
My sister used to make curry khowse and it was delicious! Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to get her recipe as she passed away very early. Later I got the recipe from my friend Nabat, and it was equally good. Recently my niece, Rubina, also shared how she makes curry khowse. So my version is based on their recipes with some modifications based on my cooking style and flavor preferences!
When I was in Pakistan I used to make coconut curry and combine it with corn on cob. It was very popular with my in-laws! I’m using that same curry recipe for curry khowse. However, thankfully now I can buy coconut milk instead of making it — which was very time consuming.
Ingredients for the chicken
- 1 1/2 lb or 2 1/2 cup diced chicken
- 1 1/2 cup tomato purée
- 1/2 cup fried onions blended with tomatoes.
- 4 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp garlic ginger
- 2 tbsp yogurt
- 2 tbsp Shan biryani masala ( mild)
- 1 jalapeño
- 1 bunch cilantro finely chopped
Recipe for the chicken
Marinate the chicken for 2 hours with garlic and ginger paste, biryani masala and chopped Jalapeño. Warm up oil in a pot. Add puréed tomatoes, fried onions and yogurt. Mix well. Let it cook till the oil separates and the water is almost finished. Add the marinated chicken and let it cook till chicken is warm and the transfer it to slow cooker and let it cook on high for 2.5 hours. Or you can continue cooking on the stove on slow till chicken is cooked.

Ingredients for coconut curry
- 2 14 oz cans of coconut milk or cream
- 2 cups water
- 4-6 tbsp gram flour or almond flour if you are watching your carbs. ( 4 tbsp of gram flour has 12 grams carb vs 4 tbsp of almond four which has 7.5 grams of carbs)
- 3 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp ground Serrano peppers
- 1/4 – 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 lemon sliced into wedges
- 1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro and green onions for garnish
Recipe for coconut curry
In a pot combine coconut milk, water , Serrano. Mix well. Let it cook for 15-20 minutes on slow. While the curry is cooking, toast the gram flour in a small pan and then combine with water to make a paste. Add to the curry. Mix well. Warm up oil and add to the curry mix. Stir intermittently. Let the curry cook on slow. Cook till the curry has a slightly thick consistency.

Ingredients for spaghetti
1 16 oz packet of spaghetti
OR
2 Zucchinis
Recipe for spaghetti
To cook spaghetti boil water in a pot. Add oil and salt. Add spaghetti Let it cook for 10-15 minutes. Drain water and add 2 tbsp butter and mix well.
If you are watching your carbs you can use zucchini noodles instead. Use a zucchini spiraler to make noodles out of the two zucchinis. To cook zucchini noodles you just cook for 2-3 minutes after the water starts to boil. Then drain water and add oil or butter.
